Banner Engineering has a wide variety of sensors to solve challenging problems including innovative technology in photoelectrics, laser distance measurement, ultrasonics, and fibre optics work in industrial automation applications. Their pioneering work has created many solutions to traditional manufacturing problems, such as their World-Beam QS30 Clear Object Sensor, created specifically to reliably detect and count clear objects. This was previously a tough manufacturing problem, as sensor beams could easily burn through translucent materials, or reflect off clear bottles, making counting unreliable. Dark objects have also proved a challenge for sensors. Due to the low reflectivity of these targets, it can be challenging for LED- and laser-based sensors to reliably detect the presence of very dark objects—especially against a similarly dark background. But Banner Engineering provide multiple solutions for this kind of problem, including laser distance sensors and photoelectric blue sensors.

Safety control is a critical and a required part of any safety system. It ensures that your safety measures 1) do not fail, or 2) if failure is inevitable, fail in a predictably safe way.

A safety controller is often an ideal safety control solution, because it provides more functionality than a safety relay, at a lower cost than a safety PLC.  In addition, a smart, scalable safety controller can expand with your needs as well as enable remote monitoring of your machine safety systems.

Other products in their machine safety range include SI-RF Series safety switches (ideal for monitoring multiple guard doors), their SGS Safety Grid System (which can be used to stop the motion of a machine when personnel are detected), and safety start and stop machines. A Banner EZ-STATUS device combines illumination and indication by including both white and coloured LEDs that can be programmed to represent different statuses. The device can therefore be used for both task lighting and status indication.
