EXPLOSION PROTECTION

In some industrial areas, safety components must meet explosion protection requirements. This is particularly true for the chemical industry, but e.g. B. also for many areas of the food and automotive industries. Schmersal offers Ex switches designed according to the requirements of the European ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU or IECEx standard, which, depending on the series, can be used in Ex zones 1 or 2 (Gas-Ex) or 22 (Dust-Ex) can be used. The safety relay modules of the SRB-EXi series also meet the international requirements for Ex switching devices with IECEx and INMETRO approvals.

LIMIT SWITCH

Limit switches (also limit switches, position switches or limit switches) of type 1 according to EN ISO 14119 are used for monitoring and position detection of moving parts on systems and machines as well as for protective devices that can be rotated or moved laterally. The signal generated can be transmitted pneumatically, mechanically, electrically or hydraulically. The universal switches are used in all industrial areas and almost all automation technology.

Their spectrum ranges from ultra-compact position switches for integration in automated systems to micro switches and extremely robust switching devices. 

NEW SAFETY LIGHT CURTAINS/GRIDS IN AN EX VERSION

The Schmersal Group has expanded its range of optoelectronic protective devices to include a series of safety light curtains/grids in an Ex version. The new EX-SLC/SLG440 series is designed with the types of protection EX d (gas atmospheres), EX t (dust atmospheres) and EX op is (optical radiation) and is therefore particularly suitable for securing access to potentially explosive areas in industrial production – especially for Zones 1 and 21.

There is an increased risk of explosion in many manufacturing areas.

For these applications, Schmersal has developed the SLC/SLG440 safety light curtains/grids in an Ex version. The devices can be installed in potentially explosive gas and dust atmospheres in zones 1/21 and 2/22 category 2GD and are used to secure danger spots, danger areas and access to machines. If one or more beams are interrupted, the dangerous movement is brought to a standstill.
